Abstract

To sinicize the Self-Efficacy Scale for Intermittent Catheterization in patients with neurogenic bladder and to test its reliability and validity. Methods: Using the Brislin translation model, the Self-Efficacy Scale for Intermittent Catheterization was translated, back-translated, and culturally adapted to form a Chinese version. A survey was conducted among 212 patients with neurogenic bladder who underwent clean intermittent catheterization from September 2021 to September 2024. Cronbach’s α was used to assess the reliability of the scale, and the intraclass correlation coefficient was used to evaluate the content validity of the scale. Results: The original English scale had 16 items, and the Chinese version retained all 16 items. The survey results showed that the content validity index of the entire scale was 0.98, and the Cronbach’s α was 0.952. Conclusion: The Chinese version of the Self-Efficacy Scale for Intermittent Catheterization has good reliability and validity and is suitable for evaluating and measuring patients with neurogenic bladder in the Chinese cultural context.
