Investigation on Mental Health Status of Outpatients in Neurology Department and Analysis of Influencing Factors

Abstract

To investigate the mental health status of outpatients in neurology department, and analyze its influencing factors. Methods: 3703 cases of outpatients in the department of neurology were recruited. Symptom Checklist-90(SCL-90) was used to investigate their mental health status. Clinic data were collected and analyzed. Results: 73.51% of the cases scored more than 160. The SCL-90 total score and other subscales’scores were higher than those of national norm (P<0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that age, gender and marital status were the influence factors of mental health of outpatient in neurology department, but which explained only 3% of the overall impact factors. Conclusion: The mental health status of outpatients in neurology department is poor, and it is necessary to provide psychological counseling accordingly.
