Abstract

To investigate the specificity, sensitivity, and practicability of STANDING in patients with acute solitary vertigo. Methods: Acute isolated vertigo patients were recruited. After completion of routine neurological examination, the STANDING examination method was performed. Follow-up methods were applied on the second day after admission to improve the MRI, DWI, nystagmogram, and hot and cold water test; a 2-week follow-up was used to confirm the diagnosis. Results: 61 patients completed the study. The STANDING method delivered a sensitivity of 97.0%, specificity of 96.3%, accuracy of 95.1%, central vertigo predictive value of 96.7%, and peripheral vertigo predictive value of 92.9%. The mean examination time was (10 ± 2)minutes. Conclusion: STANDING examination can improve the diagnosis and treatment of vertigo.
