Abstract

To investigate gene expression profiles of peripheral blood in patients with Hoehn– Yahr scale stage 1 Parkinson’s Disease (PD) via microarray analysis. Patient peripheral blood was studied for variations in gene expression. Methods: Microarray dataset GSE54536 containing peripheral blood genetic data of stage 1 PD patients was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. The data was analyzed by bioinformatics methods using GEO2R for screening of differentially expressed genes and DAVID for gene pathway enrichment analysis. Based on these genes, STRING database was used to construct protein interaction networks, and the data obtained was used by CytoScape to screen for hub genes. Results: A total of 997 genes were identified as differentially expressed genes. The main biological pathways involved included cell-cell signaling, cell secretion, and PI3K-Akt signaling pathways. The hub genes included c-fos,KDM6B,and ESR1. Conclusion: The data from microarray analysis of peripheral blood of stage 1 PD patients suggest that PD involves multiple genes and multiple molecular mechanisms. Investigation of these genes may provide valuable insights into the mechanism of PD development in patients.
