Abstract
To evaluate the effect of group dynamic interpersonal therapy (DIT) on improving the
interpersonal relationship of adolescent patients with anxiety and depression. Methods: A total of 120
adolescents with anxiety and depression were divided into the experimental group and control group by digital
parity, with 60 patients in each group. Patients in the experimental group took Sertraline and received group DIT
twice a week for 16 sessions. Patients in the control group were only treated with Sertraline. The Hamilton
Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), and Comprehensive Diagnostic Scale of
Interpersonal Relationship (IRAS) scores were measured in both groups before and after treatment. After group
therapy, the experimental group completed the Group Psychotherapy Efficacy Factor Questionnaire (GTFQ).
Results: After group DIT, the total scores of the HAMA, HAMD, and IRAS and column Ⅰ, Ⅱ, and Ⅳ scores
in the experimental group were significantly lower than those before treatment (P<0.01). The HAMA and
HAMD scores in the control group decreased significantly after treatment (P<0.01), but the scores were higher
than those in the experimental group. The highest scoring efficacy factor of group therapy was existential
awareness. Conclusion: Not only can group DIT further reduce anxiety and depression, it can also effectively
improve the interpersonal relationship of adolescent patients with anxiety and depression.
