Abstract

To investigate the effect of drug therapy combined with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) on the self-compassion and stigma of schizophrenia patients. Methods:We selected 80 patients with schizophrenia receiving treatment at our hospital for this study. Patients were randomly divided into the drug group and combined group, with 40 cases in each group. Both groups were given conventional drug treatment, and on this basis, the combined group was treated with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy for 8 weeks. The self-compassion scale, Chinese version (SCS-C) and Link Stigma Scale were used to evaluate patients before and after intervention. Results:The SCS-C and Link Stigma Scale scores of the two groups before intervention were not significantly different (P>0.05). After treatment, the combined group showed an increase in all SCS-C item scores compared to before treatment (all P<0.05); the drug group showed no significant difference in scores after treatment compared to before (all P>0.05). The post-treatment SCS-C total score, self-friendliness, and mindfulness scores in the combined group were significantly higher than those of the drug group (all P<0.05); there was no significant difference in common humanity score between the two groups (P> 0.05). After intervention, the Link stigma item scores of the combined group were reduced compared to before intervention (all P<0.05); the drug group scores showed no significant difference before and after treatment (all P>0.05). The post-treatment Link stigma item scores of the combined group were significantly lower than those of the drug group (all P<0.05). Conclusion:MBCT can lessen stigma and improve self-compassion in patients with schizophrenia.
